Terms of service

Last updated October 2026. These terms cover Midnight Oil for Teams: the subscription, license keys, the Teams dashboard at app.midnightoil.app, and the commercial code in the app's ee/ directory. The free Midnight Oil app is licensed separately under FSL-1.1-MIT.

The subscription

You pay per Mac (seat) per year, billed yearly in advance through Stripe, with a five-seat minimum. You can add or remove seats or cancel at any time from Billing; changes are prorated by Stripe. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your keys work until the end of the paid period plus 30 days.

License keys

Each key is for your organization's Macs, up to your seat count. Don't share it outside your organization or resell it. Using more Macs than you pay for isn't blocked; we may ask you to add seats.

Your data

What Macs send, and when, is described on the privacy page. You're responsible for telling the people whose Macs report to the dashboard. We don't sell your data or use it for anything but running the service.

Refunds

If Teams isn't right for you, email within 30 days of your first purchase for a full refund.

No warranty

The service is provided as is. We aim for it to be reliable, but we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to what you paid in the last 12 months.

Changes

We'll email admins at least 30 days before any material change to these terms.
